| DESIGN NAME: Capital of Ten Dynasties PRIMARY FUNCTION: Information INSPIRATION: I was invited by the Nanjing Municipal Government to make a work for Nanjing that is suitable for introducing this city to people. As a historical city in China, Nanjing once had 10 dynasties used to build their capitals here. This is it‘s most influential aspect. I have searched a lot of historical materials. Each dynasty is built on the basis of the previous dynasty. It is like a thousand-layer cake which is fun, so I created this work and it looks like a Chinese classical scroll painting. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Nanjing is a historical city in China. For geographical reasons, each dynasty in history is built on the foundation of the previous one, just like a thousand-layer cake, which inspired me to create this work. Ten dynasties have set up their capitals here.Dongwu, Eastern Jin, Southern Song, Southern Qi, Southern Liang, Southern Chen, Nan Tang, Ming Dynasty, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and Republic of China. We can find the corresponding historical information according to the number in the diagram. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is a very intuitive understanding of the history of Nanjing, and it is also an ordinary classical Chinese painting, you can not only appreciate his artistic style, but also according to space and time to get the information you want. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2018 in Nanjing and finished in August 2018 in Nanjing, and was exhibited in the world historical & cultural cities expo 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: I conducted a two-month field study to collate the visual information and locations of each historical site in Nanjing and distill it into more concise and modern visual symbols, so that the audience can more intuitive access to information, and can be interested in it. I used Adobe Illustrator to create my drawings, which were then printed onto paper. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 320 X 2030mm TAGS: Infographic design, Illustration, Historical, Colorful，Data analysis RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I have been studying in Nanjing since 2011 and have lived in this city. What attracts me most is that it has a living history, not just in museums. People often find many historical relics in the streets and lanes. City life is a symbiosis with history. During the years I lived in Nanjing, I was moved by the long history and trauma of this city. I am very happy to be my creative inspiration and hope to dedicate this work to this city. CHALLENGE: The most difficult part in my entire creative process is to collect and organize the data and transform it into visual works.
