| DESIGN NAME: Dbgripper PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dumbbell Handgripper INSPIRATION: The trend of home fitness training is becoming more and more popular. Dumbbells and hand grippers are very common basic muscle training equipment at home. However, most of the products currently on the market are made of metal, looks tough but rough, and each of the dumbbell or hand gripper comes only a single weight or grip strength, this caused a single product cannot meet the needs of the whole family, especially the elderly, women and young children. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A set of 6 hand grippers with different weight and grip strength, combine with a dumbbell bar with rounded notch at both end, adding weight to it. Made by 100 % recyclable silicone with special material formula producing 6 different levels of hardness. They are smooth, soft appearance design with eye-catching colors from light to dark, indicates the strength and weight from light to heavy. The soft touch surface coating provides silky feel, good hold and grip. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Is a safe and good hold fitness tools for all ages. Soft touch coating on the surface, providing a silky feel. The different size and weight of the hand gripper provide optional grip force training, hand gripper also can fit onto the dumbbell bar for arm muscle training up to 60 types of different strength combination. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August,2019 finished in April,2020 in Tainan, ready to go test production by early 2021. |

TAGS: Silicone, Weight Adjustable, Dumbbell, Handgripper. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Grip strength and weight training have a very important relationship with health or rehabilitation. Presently most of the dumbbells or grippers are emphasize on functionality and were made of metal and spring, looks tough but rough, may not suitable to all age member in the family, even may cause accidental injuries. This design it’s a weight adjustable dumbbell plus gripper, the very first fitness tool for hand and arm muscle training that integrated dumbbell and gripper in a single fitness product to be made in silicone material with different grip strength and weight. CHALLENGE: In order to achieve several grip strength and weight in one single product, the hand gripper dimension has to accommodate the majority palm size of the family members from young to elderly, children and woman, 75mm and 85mm diameter conform to the requirement. Different numbers of metal balls were placed into the grippers, adding more weight yet still can be grip and squeeze, this is the toughest part in molding. Rounded notch at both sides on the dumbbell bar, designed to perfect fit for the 2 different sizes of hand grippers, allowing all family members to adjust the weight easily.
