PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Air Floating Carrying Case

INSPIRATION:
Fengyang Technology is a start-up technology company from Shenzhen, China, whose mission is to improve the quality and efficiency in people's production and life with its high-efficiency and low-energy air-floating handling technology. With the mission of making excellent and affordable products, Fengyang Technology officially launched in November 2020 FY Air-floating Carrying Case, which provides safe, efficient, decent and economical carrying solutions to a variety of load moving problems.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
With a self-weight of merely 25kg, the product can achieve easy floating movement on the ground under a maximum load of 16 tons. It utilizes compressed air as the driving force and air-floating modules as the core bearing component to accomplish safe, efficient, decent and economical carryings with high loading and low energy consumption. Its innovative carrying model can not only be used individually, but can also be combined with gantry cranes and forklifts for various flexible carryings.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
When the air-floating modules are connected to the air source (e.g. air compressor), a thin film of air will form under each module minimizing the friction and allowing the object to be moved and positioned with ease and accuracy. There are no assembly tools needed, no consumables required, and no damage to the ground during handling. Its shake-free carrying process ensures the safety of workers and objects being transferred.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The development of the product started in 2014 in Urumqi, China, and was officially launched in November 2020 at China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF).

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
First the prototype has been rigorously tested and adjusted before mass production. Then the product was manufactured through bonding ABS to vulcanized rubbers. All the materials were carefully selected in accordance with the international environmental protection standards, the product in use fulfills zero emission (its air emission equals an input of its air source, i.e. 100% zero addition).

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The product includes one controller, four air-floating modules, two 6-meter and two 4-meter air pipes and one storage case. The total weight of the product is about 25kg. The external dimension of the storage case is 430mm in width, 330mm in depth and 700mm in height. The combined loading capacity of four air-floating modules is 16 tons.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The focus of the research was to create solutions for moving and handling large equipment, workpieces and loads. The research was conducted by collecting and analyzing data from the laboratory and the field. The result was tested and examined multiple times after a period of application. The theory is that high-pressure air flow creates a thin film of air allowing the object to float above the ground. Taking advantage of this effect can greatly improve the efficiency in production and life.

CHALLENGE:
The main challenge is how to achieve the best performance with different ground surfaces, loads and working conditions while also taking into consideration the energy consumption of the product. This requires expertise from multiple disciplines including fluid engineering, material engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.
