DESIGN NAME: Elegant
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Boat
INSPIRATION: Apparently, it will seem strange, but there was no inspiration. In other words, there was inspiration from the opposite. The starting point of motivation to begin the design was a visit to a Yacht Club. There was a couple of interesting boats from famous companies, but they cannot be called modern. In this connection it was made a decision to offer my own vision of the boat concept in the era of information technology.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Smartphones have become an important part of our daily life. The idea is to turn a smartphone into a boat to create a modern vehicle of the future. Minimalist approach combines smooth body shapes and two touch screens with a wheel focusing just on the essential elements. It was necessary to match organically metal, plastic, glass and digital technologies. Association with a spaceship is achieved by simplicity of the form.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There are no special technical solutions in terms of technical operation compared to a conventional high-speed boat, since this is a concept (design concept), except that all control (except for the steering wheel) is carried out through two huge touch screens and a built-in voice assistant.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project took 2 weeks of intensive work. Started on March 7, 2020. Moscow, Russia.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project is the attempt to see the possible future of high-speed water transport. Tools: 3ds Max, RizomUV, Photoshop, Corona Render.
CHALLENGE: The most difficult thing was in the software (3ds Max), which was not originally intended for articulating complex geometric shapes (surface modeling), to form these shapes in some way. Well, how to make curved surfaces that flow into each other from polygons? I'm looking for a program that would make it convenient (fast and easy) to perform this form search, but so far, unfortunately, I haven't found one. I tried Rhinoceros 3D – did not work well for me, Fusion 360 seems to be suitable for this case, since it has the T-splane Toolkit, but it still lacks half of the functions necessary for modeling, which are present, for example, in previous version of 3ds Max. I know there is an Alias software for solving this problem, but Alias is exactly modeling, not a quick search for the desired shape (design).
