DESIGN NAME: Interac Collision Conference 2019
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interactive Tradeshow Exhibition
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the design was born out of the idea that Interac and its partners work closely together to build networks and data solutions that allow data to flow seamlessly and safely.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The reason this booth is becoming so iconic is the amount of hanging fabric within the booth. There are 576 individual hanging orange/yellow strips that hung perfectly unwrinkled. There were intricate research and development to ensure these fabric banners didn't crinkle or hang skewed.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To help drive brand awareness and re-appraisal of the Interac brand, the design of the space needed to be unique as the story the brand was trying to tell. To accomplish that, the design focused on maximizing all of the available dimensions while not creating a space that was filled with static, large elements. The use of the vertical materials allowed for both bold visual impact while allowing for the space to be open and exploratory.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project was installed in Toronto, Ontario for Collision Conference 2019 from May 20 to May 23.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The overall space, client meeting rooms and social spaces within it, was defined with 576 vertical pieces of material which were hung from custom frames built to ensure that each piece, row, and column were built in perfect symmetry.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 50 ft. x 50 ft. booth space
12 ft. and 20 ft. of custom constructed material were used to maximize the vertical space.
This brings the space from 2500 sq. ft. to approximately 40,000 cubic feet.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Even while Interac is far and away the market leader in connecting Canada's financial institutions to a nation of partners and people, the brand is not generally thought of as a technology and data solutions provider. The brand needed to have space and story that stood out from the crowd while also providing a medium for the team to instigate a conversation with those attending Collision. Throughout the show, space was a focal point for those in attendance to not only learn more about what Interac does but for images to be captured.
CHALLENGE: The primary goal for this event was to create a memorable and emotional impact with a visually unique booth that played with Interac's signature colors as well as unusual materials. As North America's fastest-growing tech conference, there were dozens of influential brands and companies present as well as a long list of highly respected professionals and thousands of attendees. The Interac booth succeeded in drawing high volumes of traffic and leaving a lasting impression.
