INSPIRATION: The presence of these naturally occurring megastructures leads me to reflect on the progression of human civilization, and where nature fits in to our ever-growing societies. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The scenes were captured at the peak of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Yunnan Province, China. At the altitude of 4280m, the open space offers an experience that is serene, tranquil, and breathtaking. The photography series was created with the notion of utilizing the images as a meditative medium for viewers, primarily as an escape from this age of information overflow as well as this exceptionally stressing time, which many are facing right now around the globe.
CHALLENGE: At the altitude of over 4000m, breathable air becomes rather thin, and this posed a challenge as it limits the amount of equipment one can carry up to the peak, as well as the amount of oxygen supply. In addition, the climate is rather unpredictable around the time of shooting, which added to the difficulty of getting decent shots. To reduce the load, the photographer opted for just one DSLR camera and two lenses, also making room for more oxygen supply, allowing for a longer shoot time.
