DESIGN NAME: Phantom
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Integrated Lamp
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for creating this lamp was a desire to design an object that will erect emotions and associations in people with ancient culture. The inspiration for choosing technology was the ancient city of Petra, which was carved into a rock, while the inspiration for the appearance of the lamp was Orthodox Byzantine churches, which are concise and restrained from the outside, and inside are decorated with gold mosaics and decor.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is an integrated lamp in the wall, all parts of which are located inside the wall, thanks to which the illusion of a voluminous gliding table lamp is created. The object resembles an apparition, we see it, but it is in a different plane.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A person can use an integrated wall lamp to illuminate the living rooms. And also for commercial spaces. The lamp creates an interesting illusion. And it will evoke emotions in guests and customers. Also at the bottom of the lamp is a touch switch. This creates a tactile experience of interacting with the lamp.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2021 in Moscow and finished in April 2021 in January Moscow.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Lighting Products and Fixtures Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lamp consists of two versions of materials. The first is brass. It consists of metal. The outer side is laid in primer in order to paint it later. LEDs are located above and below: from above with a wide scattering angle, and from below with a narrow one. A touch sensor is located at the bottom in order to adjust power by one touch.
Second lamp is made of another material, but it was developed on the same principle. However, it is supposed to be made of gypsum in order to reduce the cost of the design and allow to paint the lamp in any color.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: LED, touch switch, metal, gypsum.

CHALLENGE: The main difficulty of this project was the visualization of the idea. Since it is difficult to clearly show the optical illusion.

NAME: Alexey Danilin
PROFILE: I have been practicing design for more than 10 years, drawing sketches for stage sets, projecting interiors, elaborating branding, and creating fanciful installations as a modern artist.
Eventually, I started practicing lighting and furniture design. That is what gives me the inspiration to create things, combining utility, applicability, proportion, emotionality with my own sense of beauty.
I was born in Moscow in 1987. I got a university degree in Arts and started my career working for the French designer and decorator Vanina Boude. Later, I practiced modern art; my works were on display at the Moscow Biennale of Modern Art and other exhibitions. Then, I was drawing sketches for theatrical performances, shows, and different events.
At the same time, I participated in the Moscow Furniture Display with my lamp and furniture prototypes. Thanks to this fact one of my lamps landed on the cover of the magazine Light & Design. After that, I was invited to found and head the regional design department of the German Brand Maytoni.
Recently, I have taken part in international awards and become the prize winner of Red Dot, Pin Win, and Kreata. More than once my products were displayed at the exhibitions Isaloni in Milan, Light + Building in Frankfurt, and all over the world, my products are used for the decoration of a great number of restaurants and apartments.
