DESIGN NAME: Collaborative Aid
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile Application
INSPIRATION: 17.5 million people die of sudden cardiac death every year, accounting for 30% of total deaths. Most victims do not have effective treatment time, many lives can be saved if people nearby can perform first aid in time. Many doctors, nurses and medical students near to victim want to help but they don't know it happened. Accident witnesses know but lack first aid knowledge. This app is designed to help solve these information gaps.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It's an application that allows user to help each other in emergency. It encourages qualified people nearby to perform first aid rather than distant hospital to shorten rescue time. Those who can give first aid can join angel plan and those who can't may get free train through this app. When user find someone in emergency, they can call angel plan users nearby for first aid. App will also give first aid guidance to help accident witness to give first aid to victim before qualified users arrive.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Users with first aid knowledge can join app's angel plan at page after tapping avatar. When the user finds that someone needs first aid, he/she can click the alarm button on home page to initiate first aid request and make emergency call. Users of the angel plan will receive request and guidance to the spot. The accident witness will see first aid guidance and video on their page. After receiving first aid, witness can post it on forum.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2020 in Hangzhou and finished in September 2020 in Hangzhou

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Collaborative Aid followed human centered design and service design methods. Also pages are considered under disciplines of human computer interactions. And, it is designed and prototyped by sketch, and realized by java and android.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This user interface is Width 750 mm x Height 1624 mm, which followed the interface size of iPhone 11.
TAGS: First aid, Sudden death, Collaborative work, Emergency call, CPR
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We adopted questionnaire and interview to investigate the requirement that users need while they want to learn and perform first aid rapidly. Also, we used A/B test to testify design detail such as the color and position of emergency button. Besides, we did some user experiments based on interface prototype to give a fluent user experience.
CHALLENGE: The hardest part is how to make users know the meaning of this novel app. This kind of app theme is very rare, users did not have a general concept of its function. Therefore transparent and simple flow is necessary, we did our best to simplify whole process of first aid request and angel plan participation.
