| DESIGN NAME: Venus PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ergonomics Study Desk INSPIRATION: Recently, due to the impact of the pandemic, most schools in China have begun to use online teaching, and the time for children to study at home has increased significantly. The height, comfort and function of ordinary desks cannot meet the changing needs of children in their growth. Long-term use of inappropriate desks and chairs can be harmful to learning efficiency and physical health. The Venus Study Desk is an adjustable study desk designed to create good home learning space and help kids better study online at home. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Venus Study Desk is designed to help parents create a good learning space for kids at home. Based on research, our users have shown a trend toward lower age in recent years. Thus, the Venus was designed to accompany them from kindergarten to university. Its height and desk tilting adjustment system will help with the development of healthy sitting and study gestures. The design of storage functions can help kids gain good learning habits. Moreover, since online teaching has become part of daily life, the desk is designed to consider the use and charging of electronic devices. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Venus Study Desk adopts the technology of turbo worm drive, which can realize the free height adjustment from 520 to 760mm. The use of synchronous belt transmission technology and the innovative design of the foldable winding handle moves the lifting adjustment from the back to the front. It helps users to adjust table height easily while remaining seated, greatly improving the user experience. The tilting tabletop adopts gas spring adjustment. Thus, the tabletop angle can be changed with a light pull. The desktop multifunctional box was equipped with a wireless charging module for phones and pads. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in July 2019, and finished in July 2020 in Hangzhou, China. It launched on the market in August 2020. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The product is mainly made of plywood. The desk leg is made of medium carbon steel, and is sprayed with environmentally friendly powder. The solid frame structure is safe and reliable. In user research, we found that with the development of China's Internet industry, online education has also developed rapidly. More than 80% of our user families have or intend to conduct online education. In this environment, the existing desks on the market and our existing products cannot meet the needs of online learning well. Thus, we designed this new study desk with the purpose of exploring demands of online learning.
