| DESIGN NAME: Oriental Fusion PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: We were inspired by the idea of being true to ones heritage. Taking into consideration of the client's ancestry, we decided to create a style which is uniquely his by understanding the basis of his custom while sourcing materials from China to gave the interior the life and ambiance it needs. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A collector of vintage can be considered either dated or timeless. A proud owner of the resident who honors his Chinese Tradition with a spun of his own Modern Oriental Fusion design that caters to their present-day needs. Elements of Feng Shui have also been added to signify prosperity, never-ending supply of goodness and total authority. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Besides having a carefully layout interior which allows a good flow of chi energy all through the condo, the unique thing about being able to live in a modern world is having technologies that enables one to interact with one another. Not forgetting the marvelous sea view surrounding the condo. The definition of truly being in the best of both worlds. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To keep in with the era of modernization, smart technologies are carefully incorporated into the design surrounding the interior. Automation which can be controlled through voice and smartphones have been wired throughout the house allowing one to fully enjoy life. Modernizing classical items such as a classic "Tiffin" by making it a functional and aesthetically pleasing stand alone side table is one of many ways to create an avant-garde piece besides copying patterned prints for contemporary decors. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Condo consist of a 20,000 square feet built up area surrounded by the beautiful sea view in the heart of Penang, Malaysia. TAGS: Oriental design, Modern Fusion, Condominium, Luxury Interior, Zen, Harmonious Design, Comfort Home RESEARCH ABSTRACT: An elaborated research was done on ancient Chinese interior on how the affluent lives. With a deeper understanding of the culture we were able to extract bits and pieces of the shape and meaning of the interiors from the past to have it reapplied in this penthouse. For eg, images of mountain symbolizes stability and of Earth itself as some of the main highlights of the decor besides being aesthetically calming and bamboo that represents the character of moral integrity, resistance, modesty and loyalty. CHALLENGE: The challenge that we had to face was how to make use of every inch of the space with a style that needed to link from one room to another without being too overwhelming which is not typically done for residential in Malaysia and make it relevant in the next 20 years.
