| DESIGN NAME: One Avenue Center PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mall INSPIRATION: The team’s afflatus of building facade came from fish scale which were made of aluminium panels. Each of them were slightly folded in half to form two triangular surfaces while floodlights set behind, trying to lighten the shaded areas, forming a contrast between bright and dark side. Blending and gradation of multiple colors stimulated sensory memory while envisioned as a piece of floating colorful ribbon, showing a prosperous scene of this commercial block. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is part of the first urban village renovation project which is also the largest commercial mall in Futian, Shenzhen. Because of its unique facade structure, inspirationcomes from scale of fishes, lighting is specially designed. Composed of 5495 pieces of customized metal aluminum plates, it dynamically flashes, bringing out a wave-liked lighting effect which looks like a piece of elegant color ribbon, floating, drifting and shining by night. It is a touch of tenderness in the concrete jungle build urban forest. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: By a half fold of the panel to make up two face triangles and put customized luminaires behind, the team forged a richly switching lighting effect through use of abundant elements who made best use of light and contrast from bright to dark side. For this, the team tried to employ custom-made lamps in this project after they could not find any to achieve the desired effect at that time. The whole r&d process continued for a long time. Finally great flood lights out of production and such a rippling sight brought out in city night. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In order to realize such effect, the team needed to customize a new type of LED flood light because there were no suitable RGB flood lights on the market. With several research and development experiment, such a lamp with parameter was 48W-RGBW/1500mm/DMX finally came out, taking neutrals and pink as the main color tone on facade lighting which presented rhythmed lighting variations like this. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The built-up area of this project is about 186,000 square meters. TAGS: Lighting Design, Large Commercial Complex Building, Architectural Illumination, Wave-liked Dynamic Lighting Effect, Intelligent Lighting Control, Color Usage RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project is positioned as a shopping center whose location is in prosperous district. Therefore, the team try to highlight the prosperity of cityscape through harmonious light mood. Endowing a surprisingly visual sense in this building facade, lighting design creates a strong commercial atmosphere in this district by plentiful hues, making building just like a piece of soft chromatic ribbon, fluttering and dancing in sky. CHALLENGE: From concept to implement, ideas need trust and cooperation, from clients, architects, engineers and manufacturers all concentrated their efforts to this project. Because the exiting lights failed to meet the effect team hope to show. All people concentrated their efforts on finding a suitable light through research and development. At last a light with parameter 48W-RGBW/1500mm/DMX appeared which delivered a ethereal and attractive rolling downy lighting scenery.
