| DESIGN NAME: Airy Light PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential INSPIRATION: According to the clients expectation of an ideal home, the team uses a simple, warm and modern atmosphere as the main directions, through the extension of pure white, wooden elements and natural window scenery, it creates a modern home atmosphere. The open dining area becomes the main area. Through comfortable layout and the smooth circulation, the original advantages of the house are highlighted. Especially when the natural light falls from all sides during the day, it also brings users a natural and relaxing space atmosphere. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Breaking away from the common concept of making the living room as the center of the house, this project sets the open dining area as the main space. PANDOMO is used, and double-track sliding doors and glass partition reduce the gap between spaces, delicate designs can be seen everywhere in the reading area. The smooth circulation, open kitchen area and transparent study room make the space more interactive. Plus, the living room is specially planned as a leisurely area. Particularly, a projection screen is used to replace TV screen, bringing in a relaxing atmosphere. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: After considering clients needs and the conditions of the house itself, the design team arranged the layout order from the entrance, added lots of storage cabinets, adjusted the main wall of the living room and reorganized the wall configuration in the private area. The team changed the original layout of the four rooms into two bedrooms, a study room, and a dressing room, and expanded the bathroom of the master bedroom. The layout fit more with clients habit. Thereby, the users can relax by the careful design while they are living and working. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in June, 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Wooden veneer, wooden floor, PANDOMO, imported ceramic tiles, chrysotile, glass, gray mirror SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The interior space area is about 148.76 square meters. The layout contains entrance area, living room, dining room, kitchen, study room, and 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. TAGS: Modern, simple, warm, wood elements, white tone, residential design, old house renovation RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The style of the project is structured with modern design. Through simple color matching, smooth circulation, plenty storage space, and natural materials, we create a perfect space that meets clients needs, especially the functional equipment created for the homeowner. The open dining area serves as the main area, the use of transparent study room partition makes the space interactive. The team has reorganized the house with perfect function configuration, thereby, the users can enjoy relaxation while they are living and working. CHALLENGE: Even though if the site is a 30-year-old house, the basic structure remains good, but because of the large number of beams, it is easily bringing pressure to the space users, so that it is intended to keeping the ceiling height as much as possible. At the same time, the space under the beam is also used as an aisle, and hide it using design, and the smooth circulation planning and the spacious view are used to avoid the discomfort of low ceiling height.
