PRIMARY FUNCTION: Rescue Drone
INSPIRATION: In the rescue of mountainous region or rock cave and other special environmental disasters, the manual use of equipment to search survivors is inefficient and risky, which is easily limited by terrain and underwater environmental conditions and lacks flexibility. In addition, the functional application of rescue equipment is single and not easy to carry, so it is difficult to cope with the dynamic changeable environments and chain emergencies caused by natural disasters.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a portable amphibious rescue drone, which integrates disaster investigation, life detection, search and rescue positioning, equipment transportation and emergency lighting functions. It can turn four wings to form portable mode, flight mode or diving mode. The outer diameter of the four wings is equipped with radar life detection device to locate the rescue position of the survivors. The inner diameter is equipped with detection light, which can deal with the search and rescue tasks in dark areas.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: For the application of different environments, such as mountain or underwater environment, the rescue drone can adjust the four wing angle to change the operation mode. Through the radar to detect life features to locate the search and rescue location of survivors. When it doesn't need to work, it can be folded and put into the backpack.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2019 in Nanjing and finished in December 2020 in Nanjing.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It is formed by mould, and then fixed to the structure frame of plastic, aluminum alloy and composite material by riveting and screwing to form the wing and related movable surface.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Aviation aluminum lightweight design is adopted, and the surface of the fuselage is coated with solar film coating, which can convert solar energy into electrical energy and store it in the internal battery for self supply and use. Multipoint life detection radar is on the outside of four wings, which transmits pulse electromagnetic waves in multiple directions through ultra wide spectrum radar to detect survivors.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: With the rapid development of industrial economy, environmental problems are becoming more and more serious. The frequent occurrence of natural disasters brings threats to people's lives. In the early stage, through questionnaire survey and demand analysis, the product function and use mode are positioned, and then the first draft of the product is obtained by brainstorming and concept sketch. Rhino is used for modeling, Keyshot for rendering and PS for use scenario and typesetting and finally simulation test is carried out.
CHALLENGE: The most difficult part is to fully consider the complexity and variability of disaster environment, how to design better practical products to assist the rescue work of search and rescue personnel.
