| DESIGN NAME: Alignment to Air PRIMARY FUNCTION: 3D Animation INSPIRATION: Many designers are recently working on 36 days, weeks, months of type projects to broaden their perspective and improve skills. Those creatives give Jin much inspiration all the time, and He has also been diving into this. While designers out there usually create this project with either static image or just quite short moving sequences, He likes to make one of a kind animations which could stand for more meaningful moments beyond just the beauty of design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As for the personal experimental projects, when starting with the alphabet, A for the typography animation, Jin just came up with the conflicting words in some way such as Alignment to Air which is the title of this project. With that in mind, the animation presents more precise and elaborate moments for the first word. On the other hand, this ends up with a rather flexible and loose vibe to manifest the last letter. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This animation catches people eyes on the transformation of the alphabet, A by showing its dynamic performance with various visual effects. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2020 in New York City and it's an ongoing work via social media and personal online portfolio. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Maxon Cinema 4D for 3D Software Octane for Render Plugin Adobe Creative Cloud such as After Effects, Premier Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition for Retouch and Composite Tool SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1 Video, 29 Seconds, 1080 x 1080 Pixels TAGS: 3D Animation, Motion Design, Mograph, 36Days of Type, A, Photorealistic Rendering RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Before diving into gathering reference for the animation, Jin was trying to set the project title first which is Alignment to Air. With the title, he was gathering a wide variety of related images and videos via Google, Pinterest, Behance, Dribble, and Vimeo. Depending on the words, the vibe of the graphics was totally different in that the Alignment comes with more organized and systematic visuals, while the Air literally presents relaxed and easy things. CHALLENGE: As for the modeling and texturing, it required a great effort to create and map in that this project comes with sophisticated abstract shapes with many layers of them. On top of that, animating was a hard task as well to match up with the complicated geometric forms. NAME: Jin Jeon(J2Motion) PROFILE: Jin Jeon(J2Motion) is a motion designer based in New York City. Born and raised in South Korea, but all of sudden in his mid-20s he made a decision to study abroad in United States of America. As learning and taking any kinds of design courses as much as possible, he finally found his dream major, motion graphic design which gives him a lot of interests, pleasures and motivations. He believes what animating some static images or graphics always make more dynamic, powerful, and persuasive visual messages. With that in mind, he attempts to become an all-round creator handling a wide variety of projects along with 2D, 3D, Conceptualizing, Storytelling, and Directing. As trying to see through any works beyond just beauty of visualization, he makes efforts on defining genuine meaning of them to focus on its reason and purpose which functions as great start point of launching any projects. As for his design taste or style like how to express a piece of art work, since he likes mathematics at the same time, chances are his design often combines with architectural or engineered esthetic also well-presented in the "Alignment to Air" work here. On top of that, Jin loves creating animation to deliver more his humor and philosophy over even a few of sequences, learning any relevant skills to enhance the level of design pieces, communicating with many other people to broaden his perspective, and appreciating various artist works to get inexhaustible inspiration. He intends what he's into makes himself more develop as a creative artist. |
