| DESIGN NAME: Mekong PRIMARY FUNCTION: Writing Desk INSPIRATION: The artwork gets inspiration from the shape of wood boats on Mekong river, which flows through Vietnam. The designer has his own opinion: When someone is sitting at work, his mind is like a boat going, it needs a good captain with wisdom, concentration, and cultivate knowledge constantly. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design is a writing desk, for those who like simplicity. It is a combination of the familiar rustic wooden boat image on the Mekong River with modern design lines. Beside showing the ingenuity of traditional carpentry in making, it also show the possibility of mass production. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The desk drawer can be opened with a light press. The gold-plated tray holds your phone, tablet or something small.. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It has never appeared at any exhibition. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The desk is made by solidwood, that is combination of the shine of metal and the roughness of leather and wood .. In other options about material, the designer even wants to show the surface of table body and table legs as harsh as the wooden boat shell, bring emotions to the touch. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimension: 1600W x 800D x 762H. The desk parts are removable for packaging and shipping. CHALLENGE: The most difficult part of this design activity is to pick out the simplest, most familiar of river life to become the mark of the design. NAME: Khoi PROFILE: Khoi is a product designer living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He has participated and won several design awards in his country. He finds joy in everyday work althrough sometimes also there is pressure: sketching, elaborating design details on computer, passionately talks to colleagues and takes part in the process of building sample from industrial goods to furniture items . In spare time, he enjoys reading books and going out to observe life, finding new ideas through seemingly ordinary things. His design point on individual projects is not to be affected too much by a style or a form that he saw earlier. Instead he listens to what is inside that makes him excited. He likes the spirit of freedom in artistic creation. A neat desk, some blank paper and a pencil is ideal. His dream is to visit more countries around the world, discover the beauty of architecture, different cultures to enrich his living capital and aesthetic thinking. |
