DESIGN NAME: Interlock
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Rings
INSPIRATION: The emblem of the brand is the touchstone of the designer. It is a tool that allows him to keep a guideline through the eclecticism of his creations. It is the source of his creative process that leads to unity. Ambroise Vassili aims to create pieces that offer some freedom to the women and men who will wear them. They will thus take ownership by assembling several designs and develop a creative mind in parallel to the universe of the brand.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The essence of the designs lies in their emblematic nature. The shape of each piece of jewelry was created based on the emblem of the brand. Moreover, the concept of interlocking embraces the modern way of thinking by the designer. Fashion is playful and everyone should express their creativity. Therefore, pieces were imagined to be freely mixed. Different gold alloys and gems can be chosen by each one to materialize the jewel that suits them best.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Every design has been imagined in several parts that can be worn independently. Each way will always look original and will still offer a visual harmony. The goal is to arouse, among customers, the desire to create and give to them the occasion to express their creativity. To offer everyone a real opportunity to take part in the creative process by choosing from a range of gold alloys and gemstones to materialize their piece of jewelry.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: In 2015, Ambroise Vassili was selected by Pascaline Smets to be presented at the Young Talents Smets in Brussels. His work attracted the attention of the plastic arts department of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and thanks to the prototyping aid granted to him at the end of 2016, he was able to produce the first prototypes in the course of 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Every design has been converted into a digital file using 3D software. The digital file is then used to print a burn-out resin model. Once printed, a mold is created by means of the wax models. Once the mold is made, the wax models are melted, drained away and molten metal is poured into the mold. Each jewel is finally hand-finished by a goldsmith: polishing, stone-setting, etc. Materials: 18K rose, yellow and white gold set with precious and semi-precious gemstones.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The emblem of the brand is a permanent turning point for the designer. It is a distinctive sign of symbolic value whose originality lies in its spiritual character. This triptych is the source and unity in the creative process and it allows him to keep a guideline through the eclecticism of his creations.
CHALLENGE: A piece of jewelry is more than just an ornament, it evolves with the holder. It is a way of expression, an accessory for all to affirm one's individuality. The creative challenge was thus to design jewelry pieces that are playful, opulent and refined at the same time. Thanks to the concept of interlocking, everyone can conceive their piece by assembling a few or not and create accordingly the balance they want.
