DESIGN NAME: Beyond the Blue
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Book
INSPIRATION: Looking at the sea at sunset, we found that the sea was not always blue. In fact, the colors of the sea are very diverse depending on the time, place and situation. We thought it would be interesting to introduce the various issues of the ocean through colors.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Published in honor of World Ocean Day, this book deals with environmental issues related to the sea. It is a feature of this book to introduce various looks of the sea through the distinguishing colors of each chapter. For example, the green color chip symbolizes a healthy sea forest, while the red color chip shows dark side of a sea filled with whale blood. Like this, the color chips introduced in each chapter are used to express the bright and dark side of the sea symbolically.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The target group is readers of all ages interested in the sea. Color is a universal material that makes it easy and intuitive for all ages to understand environmental issues related to the sea.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started from April 2018 and finished in May 2019. The design is done in Seoul, production in Seoul.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This book was printed on soybean oil ink with low environmental pollution on 100g matte paper and thread bound to reduce bond usage.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This book is 187mm wide and 245mm long and has 90 pages.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Looking at the lengthy brochures related to the sea, we felt the need to communicate the importance of the sea in an easy way. This book presents difficult environmental issues simply and intuitively by using a variety of colors.
CHALLENGE: The color chips introduced in each chapter symbolically illustrate environmental problems. so we had to be careful about expression.
