Interview with Sooyeon Lim at Thursday 23rd of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SL: In our modern society, people including children are continuously surrounded by stress elements. Tension causes many mental and physical problems. Therefore, it is extremely important to reduce stress levels. Clothing is one of an item that people are always surrounded. so I decided to create a garment with details that can decrease stress. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SL: My main focus was to create clothing that brings calmness and serenity FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? SL: I want to produce this collection! FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SL: It took me one year to finalize this collection. it required massive research and experiment! FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? SL: I used adobe illustrator, photoshop, indesign, sewing machine, mannequin form , sketchbook, gouache, and a pencil! FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? SL: Bow is interpreted in different style FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? SL: I researched connection between color and psychology. I also read extensive research papers about reducing stress levels. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? SL: Serenity Collection is one of my favorite collection and I wanted to get a professional opinion from the most influential design competion FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? SL: I learned about manupilating different types of design details!
