Interview with Mihye Je at Thursday 16th of May 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MJ: Basically, it wasinspiredbyPPCB’s identity system.Because itaimedtodelivertheirimagestousers.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MJ: First of all, it aimed to show their identity to the users. Second, it was necessary to improve usability higher to achieve the user’s purpose easily. Those two points were the key factors for the whole process.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MJ: Nothing special yet. Maybe having various projects from overseas?

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MJ: It took about 3 weeks from research to realization of the design concept.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MJ: Before we deducted the concept, we had had researches about the market trend of Cambodia and cooperation identity.Wegatheredallresearchesand then realized the designconceptusingtheanalysisof theresearches.Wesuggestedthis designconceptto theclient, and they had confidence in oursuggestion.Thishelpedtoproceedto thenextprocess.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MJ: PPCB asked us to design for them, and we designed only for them.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
MJ: We always to try to satisfy the basic principles of design.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MJ: The teammates’ ideas helped to deduct the design.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
MJ: We set the target users as the 20s to 40s Cambodians.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MJ: Usually, we set the project name using the client’s name or the feature of the project.In thiscase, weaddedtheclient’snameand thefeatureof theproject.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MJ: Adobe Photoshop for design, and invision for prototyping

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MJ: We (Eco Bridge Company) designed and Mobile C&C developed it.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MJ: All process was very smooth thanks to the clients.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MJ: This was finished 2 years ago, so we thought it was too late to submit any design awards.But A’designaward sent anemailto us tosubmitthedesign.
