Interview with Egwin Wilterdink at Thursday 16th of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? EW: The idea is to create a pdf that can be used by the customer. So the custumer can create his own labels and print them FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? EW: I want to achieve that the client can make his own labels FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? EW: From sketching till printing it takes abouth 3 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? EW: Inspiration was a pdf with forms, to put text into it. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? EW: The designed is produced by a local brewery FS: What made you design this particular type of work? EW: Because I was asked to make a nice and not too tight design for a label. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? EW: No, I did it all by myself. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? EW: self-providing FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? EW: It is the name of the brand FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? EW: I draw it on paper first, Adobe illustrator and pdf FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? EW: That the customer can adjust the content himself, for example the beer name and ingredients. He can also make layout adjustments. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? EW: no i didn't FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? EW: There was a little research on looking at different beerlabel styles. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? EW: That the cutomer also can be able to change the layout FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? EW: because i was selected by another design FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? EW: I have learned about various options for having the content changed by the customer himself, so that he is self-sufficient. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? EW: no
