Interview with ariane thakore ginwala at Friday 24th of May 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AT: Nature is the ultimate source of inspiration for any artist. Our most acclaimed collection, ‘The Forest Collection’ was inspired by my recent travels to the Borneo Rainforest. The Turkey Tail Table itself was inspired by the mushrooms, fungi and the micro-ecology of the forest.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AT: the focus was to recreate the forest in my way through furniture . I wanted them to be sculptural pieces, made with locally sourced woods in their nature color.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AT: Sell it to as many people as I can.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AT: From start to finish about two months for the entire Forest collection.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
AT: I decided to pursuit an inspiration.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AT: I plan to produce my work ...but would not mind selling or leasing the production rights too!

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
AT: just an inspiration

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
AT: no

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
AT: b-b and b-c

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
AT: getting this inlay work done!
