Interview with mohammad haghighat gou at Wednesday 10th of April 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? MH: The principa;l idea for the concept of the project is related to the iranian architecture and the area architecture. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? MH: we believe in bricks, because is the principal element of the local architecture. We have integrated a hystorical material to a innovative and sustainable architecture FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? MH: improve myself and always improve my projects FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? MH: It take about 3 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? MH: i've decided by myself the project concept, for integrate history, innovation and green architecture FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? MH: the project was projected by myself FS: What made you design this particular type of work? MH: the local architecture FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? MH: in the project area FS: Who is the target customer for his design? MH: middle class people FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? MH: this project is UNIQUE in the country and use some innovation innovation related to the historical Persian Architecture FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? MH: Z4RE because the alley name is Zare end the 4 instead the A because the building number is 4 FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? MH: many documentarys, Persian architecture and area architecture FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? MH: the vertical garden and the use of the windcatchers using the bricks FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? MH: Yes, with a technical group of enginner and professors of Persian Architecture FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? MH: The technology is important in that project because the help to increase the insulation of the building and make a sort of a microclimate around that FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? MH: yes, is influenced by the ideas of Ancient house of Yazd, that use windcatchers for have a fresh and moderate ventilation inside the house. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? MH: to take present the area architecture for don't change it FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? MH: because is not the first time. i want to make a challenge with my projects FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? MH: in each project that i do, I learn somethings new and i learned many things with this project too FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? MH: i've make a important decision for making a 0km project also for the sustainability of that
