Interview with President Zbynek Suba at Thursday 18th of June 2020 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? ZS: The idea behind Snowfeet design is to create a new revolutionary winter sport. To make it really light and portable so you do not need any additional equipment as people need nowadays with snowboards or skis. Also to make it very minimalistic and at the same time functional for multiply purposes such as downhill skiing, snowpark, hiking trails, or cross country skiing. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? ZS: The main focus was to move winter sports evolution further and come up with the new innovative sport that will bring fun and joy to people and also make their winter holidays and skiing easier. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? ZS: Of course, I would like to still improve it and bring it to perfection. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? ZS: Almost two years including product research, market research and development itself. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? ZS: I got inspired by many similar products that have been already on the market. I have found that nobody made it so far to introduce short mini ski skates that would become popular, functional and similarly recognized as skis or snowboards. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? ZS: My intent is to produce my work by our company Snowfeet s.r.o. and create a network of sellers and distributors selling it all over the world. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? ZS: Mostly the functionality. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? ZS: Yes, all our Snowfeet Team. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? ZS: Skiers, skaters, snowboarders, people doing and enjoying winter sports, of all ages. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? ZS: Snowfeet - the simple combination of two words snow and feet FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? ZS: I think the most uniques aspect is the side shape of Snowfeeet which is inspired and designed by classic racing cars such as Mustang. Also, the overall design of the ski was based on a study of the natural position of the human foot in motion. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? ZS: All our Snowfeet team has decided to apply for the competition mostly for the chance to introduce our new winter sport to a bigger audience, also because of our interest in the opinion of this recognized world-famous competition. Thanks to the award that we won, our customers will find our product more trustworthy and valuable.
