Interview with Fabrizio Constanza at Tuesday 24th of November 2020 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? FC: It explores the idea of alternative realities. Human reality is but a perception. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? FC: It was to create an illusion of symmetry on an asymmetric form FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? FC: Interstellar is part of a commissioned furniture project. It will be produce by order. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? FC: Interstellar is part of a commissioned furniture project. It is produce by order. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? FC: It was a commission. But the goal was to produce an object that produce tranquility FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? FC: As I mention, it was a commission. I can reproduce it but would be in limited production. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? FC: It was the main object of multiple pieces. I wanted to create an object unified the entire composition. Perhaps like a black hole. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? FC: People seeking alternatives to mass production and mass consumption FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? FC: It is a product that seeks to create harmony. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? FC: Quantum revolution and Einstein relativity FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? FC: 3D modeling and great communication with all people involve in the production FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? FC: Asymmetry FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? FC: 3d designer, drafter, metal workers, and paint specialists FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? FC: 3d modeling for client and manufacturing visualization FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? FC: It is analytical FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? FC: Technically if the four supports would hold the glass and the glass requirements FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? FC: Because it is a noble design. I like to share with the design world FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? FC: All new design projects bring the opportunity to become better designer
