Interview with Lu Zhao at Thursday 19th of April 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? LZ: The design of this book is inspired by the type of movable type printed in traditional Chinese printing process, which gives the book a richer sense of culture and history. Through the form of the classical box, the collection of books fully reflects the sense of the classics. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? LZ: FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? LZ: Communicate with more excellent designers. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? LZ: Two years FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? LZ: For Inspiration. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? LZ: In the creative design process, I think that the internal photography of books is the most difficult part of the design process. Take full consideration of the layout of the book and the presentation of the book itself and the presentation of formal aesthetics. The information conveyed by the book design is full and accurate, and the new attempt and exploration of the printing process is fully reflected in the prospective of the book design. The significance of book publishing is the trend that leads the development of the design and development of contemporary books, which fully embodies the certain social effects brought by the publication of books. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? LZ: Affirmation of self ability.
