FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
YH: Bonsai or Ukiyoe in Japanese culture.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
YH: Recognition of Japanese culture bonsai.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
YH: If you can contribute to the bonsai town in Saitama prefecture.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
YH: About 2 years.
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
YH: I referred to the taste of Ukiyoe.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
YH: It is not used or requested. I will continue to produce it in the future.
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
YH: I have not.
FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
YH: Katsushika Hokusai, Kitagawa Utamaro, Tosyusai syaraku.
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
YH: A young Japanese.
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
YH: It is a bonsai as it is.
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
YH: Photoshop.
FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
YH: Pretending to know and not knowing.
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
YH: Pretending to know and not knowing.
FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
YH: I thought about the design by myself. However, I got a lot of cooperation on shooting.
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
YH: Nothing in particular.
FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
YH: I studied the culture and history of Edo era.
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
YH: We arrange kimono with bonsai with goods.
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
YH: There was a contact of the offer to the homepage.
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
YH: I thought that I wanted to show a person like life-size, not a representation of a small world.
FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
YH: It's okay.
