Interview with Ling Zhou at Tuesday 17th of April 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? LZ: This time I paid more attention on the whole space layout . From the very beginning, I conceive it from the actuality and concept of space. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? LZ: Breaking the limitation of space layout, breaking the limitation of original structure, we define the space in a new dimension. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? LZ: I hope he will be able to act in all respects FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? LZ: One month FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? LZ: I always believe that design should not be restricted by the function and also , we should conceive the space from the concept and layout.This is a different inspiration FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? LZ: My design is created by myself FS: What made you design this particular type of work? LZ: Hope to break through the traditional design FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? LZ: Zhang Xianghao, a Taiwan Designer FS: Who is the target customer for his design? LZ: It is comprehensive FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? LZ: This design pays more attention to the embodiment of space FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? LZ: All of a sudden inspiration, simple space thinking FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? LZ: AUTOCAD FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? LZ: I think it's space and color FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? LZ: I designed it myself FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? LZ: It is mainly the composition of space FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? LZ: I hope that his space is not a traditional model FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? LZ: Mainly material and time FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
