Interview with ZhiTao 唐 at Sunday 1st of October 2017

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
Z: We cautght the extend concept from the logo of client's logo which is combined by main black background and simple lines elements. We made up black and gold as the main colour of the space, matching the visual elements of client's logo. Meanwhile, we leave a plenty of white and outspread lines in the space, expressing a rest and "enjoyable" concept to the customers.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
Z: The innovation of tea culture is from traditional tast to a new special tast, more and more people start to concern about "the homony between human and nature". According to this idea, we use the art form of "trees" to deliver customers a concept of "return to our original nature".

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
Z: I will continue to get more inspirations from architecture, trying to find a new way to mix up the interior space and architecture elements.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
Z: normally around 1 month, however we compressed the time because of our client's requirment and the site fees.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
Z: We hope enhence the customer to realize what is the tea culture

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
Z: This projact has been laready in producing.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
Z: It comes from our client's requirment, we start to design with sufficient communication with our client.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
Z: The work was refered a plenty of cases and connected with reality situation

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
Z: College students and white-collar employees who live or work nearby

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
Z: Maybe the music bar

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
Z: The name comes from our client's brand

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
Z: Firstly, we drawn a stereoscopic space via 3D max, and then drawn a construction paper by AutoCAD to confirm the finial construction plan.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
Z: During our work, we considered people liquidity and put the tree model in the room, expressing our concept of "return the nature"

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
Z: We work with Deng Ken who is in charge of construction. Refering his knowledges of mechanical structure, our ideas became feasible.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
Z: The method of mechanical structure

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
Z: We analysed the customer liquidity, considering the position of buying group and waiting group. We try to distribute different groups by different courses, in order to enhance the efficiency of customer distribution.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
Z: We meet a problem of construction, we accepted Ken's suggestion and used tie rods to pull the crown edge of tree modle, then the tree was fixed successfully.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
Z: I hope to show my work on the international platform, and achieve more opportunities after this competition

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
Z: During the desigining, I had changed my thinkings again and again after the communication with my client. I think it is also an improtant part of the growth in my career

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
Z: I hopt the special tea culture could develop into a daily life culture just as Starbucks, bringing people more fun.
