Interview with ETHOSpace Pte Ltd at Tuesday 14th of August 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? EP: From the discovery of the mind of a 9 year old Malay girl whose essay touched the hearts of her elders as to how much of a future we can provide in context of hopes and promises for such intelligence, the designer posed the question to the President of the Bank as to whether they should design a bank inspired not by its customer but by its customer children. Hence a Bank designed as an experiential space to engage a growingly sophisticated client base that it can look forward to servicing one day. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? EP: From a very intimate aura with its sculptural enclave and an understated entrance, UOB looked out to the towering financial world of Singapore. In whole, the Bank was composed of illuminated forms from graceful sweeps defining spaces in sculptural expressions. Each space was a stylish statement of understated elegance encompassing not just form following function, but the five senses as visitors drift along with the rhythmic flow gravitating towards the centre where the main lounge was situated. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? EP: Location: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Project finished in June 2010
