Interview with Glens at Thursday 28th of September 2017

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AA: To make reading glasses that can be always with you and that are suitable for everyone

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AA: I wanted to make glasses that are suitable for most people, are comfortable and available for all

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AA: I would like to make world famous brand, the most recognizable glasses.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AA: About 1 years

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
AA: That was my personal need and inspiration

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AA: I sell products myself in my company.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
AA: Personal need

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
AA: Karl Annus made the 3-d model of the product

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
AA: The target customers are all people who use reading glasses

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
AA: It is much lighter and comfortable than other similar concepts

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AA: That was long and difficult process. Glens is the compound of glasses+lense.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
AA: That was a specially made device that set the shape for the prototype of designed item.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
AA: The bridge

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
AA: I collaborated with designer Karl Annus, who made the 3-d visualisation and helped me with the realisation of my idea.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
AA: the unique material for making the glasses is tiny granules of high-quality co-polyester

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
AA: There was made a research of the bridge radius. Also there was made a research of how the glasses held on the nose.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
AA: The main challenge was to find the solution that is suitable for most people

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
AA: I have get the invitation

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
AA: i got the new knowledges in the optics field

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
AA: There is no other things that I would like to cover
