Interview with Daniel Guillotin at Monday 7th of August 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? DG: The main idea of Altesalux is to create an object that is both sculpture and lighting. An object whose shapes and contours are also drawn by light. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? DG: Create a luminous sculpture. An object that has a strong presence, almost like a human silhouette, legs well planted on the ground and arms raised to the sky. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? DG: If this design is awarded, I hope it finds its place in the interiors of people passionate about particular objects, entirely handmade, curiosities that have their little history. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? DG: This project took a year and several prototypes with a passionate work with carpenter cabinetmaker FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? DG: It is a desire for creation, a passion for material and craftsmanship. The desire to create freely, without marketing constraints ... A great luxury. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? DG: I do not know yet, this project is new to me. I come from graphic design and I have not yet experience object design. I am not against the idea of selling the rights to productions and moving on to new creations because that is my main motivation. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? DG: My age, my taste for freedom of artistic expression and my passion for creation FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? DG: Frank Lloyd Wright FS: Who is the target customer for his design? DG: People passionate about original curiosities and handmade work
