Interview with Venkatesh Kalidoss at Friday 15th of June 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? VK: It Is Just the Idea to Bring a New Concept to the Chair Which No One Has Ever Thought of. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? VK: The Main Focus Was to Decide How to Make It Workable From Concept Idea FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? VK: It Is Not Made Yet. So I Am Waiting for Sponsor to Make It as I Am a Student Now and I Do Not Have Much Money. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? VK: The Concept Just Took a Day or So. But Presentation Took Really Long Like Close to Two Weeks FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? VK: I Was Playing With a Syringe One Day and I Just Realized Why Not the Same Compression Technique Could Be Used for the Cushion of Any Seating. Then Also I Found That the Stool Looks as if Its Floating When I Use This Concept. That Is How This Design Happened FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? VK: I Intent to Produce My Work Myself First and Then I Am Planning to Sell or Lease the Production Right. I Also Do Not Mind to Lease the Production Rights if It Is a Really Good Company FS: What made you design this particular type of work? VK: I Was Playing With a Syringe and This Thought Just Strike My Mind. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? VK: No One Actually Other Than the Motivation From My Parents When I Was Designing. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? VK: It Could Be Used in Home, Office and Other Places as Well. So the Main Target Would Be Residence Client and Office FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? VK: The Concept Is Completely Different Which No One Could Have Never Even Dream of. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? VK: Floating Stool as It Looks Like It Is Floating and Not Touching the Ground. Simple as That. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? VK: Max for Modelling and Rendering. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? VK: It Is the Concept of Having a Different Idea (Air Compression and Floating Feel) for the User Experience. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? VK: I Did Not Collaborate With Anyone. I Did Everything Myself FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? VK: Its a Simple Design. There Is No Technology Required. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? VK: The Research Was About Quantity of Air Compression Happening to the Amount of Load Over It. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? VK: The Proportion (Height and Width) of the Stool According to the Compression of Air Happening. I Mean if the Stool Is Too Short, Then the Seating Will Hit the Floor When the Compression Happens. Also I Have to Make Sure That the Stool Achieves the Standards for Seating Height Before and After Compression. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? VK: I Won an Award Last Year. So I Just Wanted to Make It as Two Award This Year and I Did It. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? VK: Patient Is Must When You Do Anything to Achieve Something. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? VK: I Am Really a Young Guy and I Just Done With My College. Also I Have Got Three a Design Award Until Now. What I Mean to Say Is That I Need Either Someone Could Sponsor Me to Make the Product or at Least Someone Could Give Me an Opportunity to Learn More by Giving an Internship or Job Under Them.
