CC: I'm always set my design inspiration on safety, durable and playful design on the everyday living stuff. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? CC: Since my whole family are bringing our own water bottle everyday to work or school, I just want to have a safe, unique, durable and playful bottle for my family. Eventually Happy Aquarius, the workout silicone water bottle came to realize. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? CC: I wish to promote it to worldwide market, and develop the 2.0 ver for adult. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? CC: It tooks me about 1 years to start from concept sketch to final manufacture product. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? CC: When I noticed water bottle made by PC or plastic will leach out plasticizer & BPA, I try to design a bottle safe enough for my children. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? CC: This design is already manufactured and officially launched in 2016. After awarded by the A' AWARD, I wish to have someone to sell this design in Europe. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? CC: Safety concern when I came to know plastic bottle is not safe enough. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? CC: Children, Office worker, Sport exerciser. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? CC: Double sided color formation and the curvature hollow structure in the middle are the most significant and differential from others. These make this product special. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? CC: Happy Aquarius derived from chinese semantic "Kaihsin Ping", Kaihsin means happy, Ping is the bottle. Since the bottle identified by the hoolow structure in the middle, looks and sounds like open heart, bear the same pronunciation of Kaihsin. Aquarius means the water carrier. So I named it as Happy Aquarius, gives an impression of being happy in bringing water everyday whenever you go. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? CC: software: Solidworks , Keyshot. 3D printing. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? CC: The smooth smiling curvature design and eye-catching appearance by combination of duo colors, showing a sense of young, energetic and fashionable. The soft touch surface coating provides silky feel good hold and grip, its flexibility, elasticity and the center hollow structure feature enable the bottle to workout as hand gripper and light-weight dumbbell. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? CC: Thomas EnYang Chen my son who interned in my studio co-work with the design, Mr. Hu from JinHui Co.,Ltd. the silicone specialist, helping in the manufacturing of the design. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? CC: Double sided Color Formation for silicone material is always a challenge, and a curvature hollow structure in the middle of the bottle was even a much tougher challenge. In order to achieve the good hold and grip shape, eye-catching color planning, a special molding technique applied. This kept the team try and error for many times that finally comes up with the good solution. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
