Interview with Mariana Goluboff at Saturday 25th of February 2017

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MG: To look after dogs health and attire

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MG: To protect dogs exposed to cold and raining condition weather

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MG: To achieve a product acceptance from clients and a tool for PR initiatives, as well as widespread the TAPADO ANTARTICO SAND knowledge

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MG: The project started in August 2010 and finished in February 2012 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MG: Evoking cool weather Tapado Antartico Sand was designed to provide warmth on colder days. The tartan is the leading pattern of this collection. Inspired by the traditional static of British Heritage, evoking their country lifestyle; lead to a color palette of brick, brown and carmine. Handmade from hypoallergenic materials. This collection aims at sharing the lifestyle of pets and owners. Adaptable to all breeds. Beagle was the dog that inspired this collection.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MG: Our design is "exclusive". So far was not produced by any other company, and our market strategy to sell or lease the rights depends on further negotiations.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
MG: All the knowledge behind

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MG: No, it was wholly designed by Mariana Goluboff and her team.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
MG: For traditional people evoking their country lifestyle; lead to a color palette of brick, brown and carmine.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MG: 1 - ERGONOMIC 2 - HYPOALLERGENIC 3 - ADAPTABLE TO ALL BREEDS 4 - EYELET TO LEASH 5 - EASY WASHABLE 6 - EASY TO WEAR 7 - LIGHT WEIGHT 8 - SOFTEST MATERIAL

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MG: The Antarctic Continent; a region in the globe with hardest cold weather conditions.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MG: Design and textil tools

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MG: That is a ergonomic product, and is adaptable to all breeds

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MG: Yes, Natalia Bellesi like a Textil Designer and Victoria Scaramaglia like a Pattern Designer. We are technical people in their areas

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
MG: We used 3D technology for a ergonomically product

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
MG: Focus group research with selected participants

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MG: The challenge was to reach a pattern together with easing their manufacturing process. During the development process the main obstacles to overcome was to start up a sort of "School" on my own in all fields digital design, digital pattern, digital cutting, adapt the existing knitting to meet the dogs sawing requirements of there skin, joins, chest, and mostly for a four legs material a by ability was scared, so we need to perform and extended research over external suppliers worldwide

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MG: Because we understand it deserved internacional awareness, and our clients encourage as to participate

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
MG: In every product development you face a trial and error challenge. Our team contributed with ideas and knowledge to reach our target product.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
MG: We understand that throughout the guidelines of the contest there are no any pending issues.
