Home > Winners > Design #53869 >Interview
Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Petra Jungebluth (PJ) for A' Design Awards and Competition. You can access the full profile of Petra Jungebluth by clicking here. Access more information about the award winning design Cloud7 for TUMI here.

Interview with Petra Jungebluth at Tuesday 18th of April 2017

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
PJ: There is an amount of people who are travelling with their dogs. When they have small dogs they are allowed to bring the dog into the flight cabin. Because this is a niche target group there are hardly any products on the market that are fulfilling the needs of the dogs for this occasion.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
PJ: It was simply to design the best possible carrier for small dogs and puppies according to IATA rules.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
PJ: The design process was pretty quick, from first sketch to final product roundabout 12 months.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
PJ: Cloud7 has been on the market for several years and has gained some reputation for high quality and stylish dog accessories, when we were approached by US luxury travel brand TUMI to design a special dog travel range. The City carrier was part of this range and got launched under the name Cloud7 for TUMI and was distributed via both brands retail and online channels.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
PJ: Being a brand that supplies high end dog accessories, we are very aware of what the dog needs for his comfort and we just applied this knowledge and the insights to the special situation of the dog travelling in a flight cabin.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
PJ: Everybody who travels a lot and doesn't want to do this without its dog.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
