Interview with Hisu Jeong at Tuesday 2nd of May 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? HJ: Design’s idea and motivation is experience from the nature, people, history and travel. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? HJ: Our design focused on the combination of the oriental and western things. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? HJ: I want to develop various packages. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? HJ: 1 year of developing period to make a design. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? HJ: This design is made for the purpose of exports of Korea in global society and global society in Korea. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? HJ: We directly produce and design our package. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? HJ: The reason why we designed our package with the concept of our history is letting global community to know familiar but exotic sense of Korea. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? HJ: Our design is motivated from Korean Shilla period gold crown and Turkish Oslam culture. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? HJ: Main customer for us is who drinking tea. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? HJ: Our design’s uniqueness and main concept is a combination of eastern western culture, exotic sense but familiarity. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? HJ: Inside grand 24, there are various product and we made the qty as the name. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? HJ: Mac, illustrator and Photoshop with cameras. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? HJ: Oriental and western color and exotic tea cup are the unique concept for our package. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? HJ: Designer, Planner and Photographer. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? HJ: My role is making color and photographic direction. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? HJ: I researched water color for the tea. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? HJ: I needed to do re-works as the planned design didn’t come out. That was the hardship. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? HJ: I wanted to confirm the value of our design. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? HJ: I studied of history of oriental and western cultures. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? HJ: There’s no other greater questions.
