Interview with Ana Lisa Luças at Monday 18th of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AL: As a Surfer and a painter I had dificulties on sending clients new painted surfboards. As they are sensible, they can break or scrach very esaly. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AL: I whated a vrey safe transport box that the design and illustrations can reflect my surfbiards paintings. I have treated the box image as a surf board. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AL: To be able to send it to any part of the world. Now it is a transport box just for nacional service. It is just for Portugal. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AL: 1 year FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AL: This was a commissioned work but I was chosen because of all work that I have done with surfboard painting. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? AL: It is produced and it can be bought at poast oficce shops FS: What made you design this particular type of work? AL: My love for surf FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AL: This is target to surfers or surfboard companys FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AL: Normal sirfboard boxes are not adtable to the boards, are plain boxes that you need to secure your self the board, you need raping material that you need to buy extra. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AL: Leva-te o Surf means, we will bring you your surf. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? AL: Illustrator, photoshop FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AL: the safety and protection that can be easaly asembleled FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? AL: I have talked with surfers and surboard facturies FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AL: the chalenges were to make a safe transport box with out increasing transport costs. We needed an low cust production, materials, ink reductions, and less storage possible. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AL: This is a unique box in the world, and a unique transport, you can only find it in Portugal. And you can only make the transport nacional and I what the worl to see this simple but clever solution. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? AL: I learn about the materials and the lemitacions of express mail service, custes, competition, ambitions.
