From the exterior is a very neutral design because of the context where is located but as soon as you enter is as pristine as possible. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? FF: Transparency between the offices and the factory and a sense future and cleanness as an overall impression. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? FF: Hopefully getting another commission like this FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? FF: This is one of the most remarkable things of this project. From concept to construction in 7 month, we design it as it was being build. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? FF: The client ask for us for something that would impress their future clients. Working with their main material witch was glass was evident from the begging. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? FF: The program and ambitions of the project. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? FF: Sci fi film scenography. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? FF: Possible clients of the factory, the administrative staff and the workers of the factory. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? FF: It looks and feels very futuristic, elegant and sophisticated using regular materials like drywall, LED lighting and glass partitions. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? FF: AGP eGLASS is the name of the factory and the product. V.Oid is our office name witch in Spanish means -Ve- y -Oid- that translate look and hear back to English. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? FF: VR Oculus (Google cardboard) for the client to experience some spaces. Revit for modeling and CAD for drafting. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? FF: The boardroom hovering over the triple height backlit entrance is a very unique feature, you can also see the production line thru the boardroom. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? FF: The CEO of the company was a key person for the design. Their logistic area was outstanding and our engineers did a great job as well. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? FF: The machinery of the industrial line is state of the art and the R&D testing area pushes the boundaries in technology advances in the field. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? FF: The design was in constant update even with in the construction process because the industrial line was also evolving. The glass reception desk was the first time we glued that much glass with glass and also the walls and ceiling with tensile fabric required some mock ups to test even the seams design. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? FF: The shortage of time was the most challenging problem. We ended up designing as the construction was happening. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? FF: We believe it was a cutting edge factory and office design and wanted to see how it would stand up against the best of the world. It did good. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? FF: It was the first factory we ever design so from zero to experts in record time. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? FF: The importance of a good client in this project was crucial for its design. It was great working with a people that valued design as much as we did.
