Interview with Elaheh Tassavor at Thursday 21st of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? ET: Inspiration for pebble came from Chesil Beach in England which brings back a very calming and unique memory. I wanted to create a heater that gave the user a unique and mobile experience by providing a functional but yet elegant design FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? ET: Simplicity! I wanted to provide the user with an elegant heater that be used in every location possible. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? ET: A continuous 3 months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? ET: i have always cared for elegant and simple home appliances. I believe unique items add value and charisma to anytime or environment FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? ET: at this point, this product is not in for sale or being produced. I would love the ability to manufacture and produce this product for every home. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? ET: Nearly everyone. This is designed for everyday moms, dads, teens, and adults. since pebble has such a unique design, it allows everyone to feel a certain amount of attachment to Pebble. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? ET: the unique look and feel. its easy enough to hold, but elegant enough to show off in front of others FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? ET: i was inspired by the beaches in England FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? ET: Solidworks, Photoshop, hand scetches, rendering Keyshot. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? ET: the heating element and the look and feel FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? ET: the role of technology is as unique as the unit. I wanted to design something that was not loud or heavy for easy transportation FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? ET: no FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? ET: Finding the balance between organic look and feel and functionality and feature sets is always a battle. Some of the creative challenges include from mechanical components that effect the length and depth as well as feature sets provided by Pebble.
