Interview with LIU KAI-HSUAN at Saturday 18th of June 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? KL: Actually, I just want to design is a museum, but I want to start from the mechanical watch. Because space and time is closely. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? KL: Translucency is very important. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? KL: Looking for a team or investor. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? KL: I spend maybe 1 year. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? KL: I just want design mechanical watch, just follow my heart. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? KL: I hope investors can see this design, because this mechanical watch is high challenge and marketability. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? KL: Machinery very attractive, but also a challenging design. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? KL: I hope so. Because team work is always more than one person well. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? KL: No mechanical watch is no glass, so I this that is a different places. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? KL: I have a dream, I want to build a museum, that all. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? KL: When I want to know the internal mechanical watches, I disassembled a Panerai. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? KL: No glass and unique appearance. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? KL: Sometimes I'll find watch repair master chat with him, but most of them are a complete by myself. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? KL: This design reinterpreted the beauty of time, and builds up marvelous space within limited place. Escape the past we think about watches. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? KL: Because this watch is no glass, so waterproof and anti-collision is a big challenge. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? KL: Exposure can attract the young designer. And I want to internationalization. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? KL: Constant revision design also I alway saw the watch magazine.
