Interview with Chris Trivizas at Saturday 2nd of April 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
CT: Inspiration came directly from the olive grove and the tree by itself. We are used to consume the olive oil but the tree is absent. So it was a challenge and inspiration at the same time to bring the olive grove in our table.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
CT: For an olive oil product our main focus to bring nature in our clients hand. In this case by nature we mean the olive tree.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
CT: Through this award winning design we intent to make the product more popular worldwide.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
CT: Two months of research and design.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
CT: Design was made after clients request.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
CT: This is an actual project upon clients request and is already produced and distributed.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
CT: The type of product [olive oil] made us to design this particular type of work.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
CT: No.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
CT: Clients of the international olive oil market that want high quality of taste.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
CT: The design is based in typography, color palette and its unique cap. In order to improve the crop quality, the olive trees are pruned when necessary. The branches are collected and once they have been selected and processed they become caps for the olive oil packaging.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
CT: Its name, the Greek word for “toil’’, reflects the hard work that lies behind the production and processing of this quality olive oil.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
CT: Adobe creative suite.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
CT: Its unique cap. In order to improve the crop quality, the olive trees are pruned when necessary. The branches are collected and once they have been selected and processed they become caps for the olive oil packaging.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
CT: Technology used to ensure the proper usability and final design that combine glass with wood.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
CT: No.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
CT: The production of the cup made by the same olive tree wood was the most challenging issue since the processing of this particular wood is extremely difficult.
