Interview with Masahiko Sato at Friday 22nd of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? MS: The communication between family member FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? MS: A spatial composition consist of combination of boxes, horizontal, and vertical element FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? MS: To be able to do similar work outside japan FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? MS: 4 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? MS: Its just happen and born naturally as a product of my way of thinking. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? MS: We want to ensure the privacy and safety, and also create a living space which makes family members happy and easy. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? MS: No FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? MS: The sense of openness in living room and the utilization of conventional japanese wooden structure. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? MS: No FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? MS: It has important role especially in design development to supervision phase. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? MS: We won some a bronze and silver award last year so we are feel very confident and motivated to achieve higher prize this year as our goal.
