FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
RR: I always focus on innovation. In this specific table I have played with the legs to create a unique product with rather simple lines.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
RR: The focus was to find the right proportions for the beauty and stability of the table.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
RR: In this case it is an ongoing process, as this table was released at Maison & Objet Paris last year (also other main furniture fairs), and this award will further enhance its visibility on the market.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
RR: The concept took just few days, on the other hand some months were spent on product development.
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
RR: In this case it was pure inspiration.
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
RR: A personal challenge to create a unique table with innovative shapes.
FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
RR: No.
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
RR: People looking for a table that easily fits in any decor style with simple and good design.
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
RR: I am proud to say that the Illusion table is really unique. It is simple and elegant, and if you change the position of the legs it will be another table. There is no way to design a similar table.
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
RR: The name reflects the final design and its infinite angles that looks like a Illusion.
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
RR: The Illusion is a ludic table.
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
RR: The challenge is to find the right material and thickness to give stability for the table.
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
RR: I believe this table is a strong piece of furniture.
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
RR: During the process I heard a few times that the table would not be stable, so I have learnt to follow my instincts, as well thinking outside the box to find solutions.
