Interview with gianpietro tonetti at Monday 14th of April 2014

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
GT: The use of a solid surface in a new field

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
GT: An innovative product, durable, easy to use and install.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
GT: To expand the range of products with other elements.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
GT: The project required a week of work with CAD, while the definition of every detail has lasted three months.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
GT: It was my idea to propose a new material to make objects usually made ​​of brass or plastic.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
GT: We gave the manufacturing rights to the SANICRO, Villa Carcina (BS), Italy

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
GT: Knowledge of materials used has inspired us

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
GT: We had to update the original idea to make it compatible with the various components. This work was done in collaboration with the producer of the raw material.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
GT: The average user who uole surrounded by beautiful things and functional.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
GT: The material and formal solutions.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
GT: Is part of a collection of products whose names are inspired by the stars.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
GT: CAD 3D

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
GT: In a single formal element, different functions.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
GT: Fundamental, only with the CRISTALPLANT was possible to produce a piece so !

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
GT: If I have to be honest .... pure pleasure!

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
GT: Maintain a consistent line with the initial idea, the time of insertion of the taps.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
GT: I like to compare myself with others and share experiences.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
GT: I deepened my knowledge of a material that I really like.
