Interview with RUBINETTERIE ZAZZERI S.p.A. at Monday 19th of May 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? R: The inspiration came from an architectural Renaissance element, the “lesene”. Obliqua had to be a really thin steel lesene with a little thickness in all its parts, including the part outside the wall; a light element with dimensions that could fit every single bathroom FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? R: I would describe it as the expression of a new shower concept, with a low impact and an extreme simplicity FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? R: The starting idea was to have an almost invisible object, able to create a new relation between the shower space and the water. Using some new technical solutions we have been able to adapt this idea to reality and to bring Obliqua to life, optimizing dimensions and thicknesses FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? R: The Flyfall® system is probably the most interesting feature of this element. Using it, all the models, both having straight or oblique nozzle, are able to maintain the water fall close to wall, maximizing the shower box space FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? R: My personal idea and final goal when I design and draw something is to obtain objects always able to integrate in every situation and location, easy in their shape but strong enough to communicate simplicity, grace and elegance. This is why I think that Obliqua best represents my design vision and its realiziton
