FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
PS: Dental INN A white organically shaped island surrounded by transparent glass walls, which are characterized by a monochrome overprint of the Viernheim forest. The floor covering with an unfinished apereance plays a homage to a forest glade and provide the necessary nutrients for everything, which should here prosper. The light illuminates the way and provide the upbeat for a new descovery of oneself.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
PS: A visit to a dentist always brings with it a degree of overcoming. This dilemma not only burdens the "victim of treatment" with its comprehensible fears - the dentist also desires an unbroken relationship with the patient. To bridge this abysmal gap requires psychological mediation.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
PS: Since Dental INN, I have designed several projects of practices and clinics that always have the same goal; the atmosphere created should provide a soothing and friendly mood that encourages healthy exploration for each patient rather than barrier formation.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
PS: The first sketch took about five minutes. Thereafter, all further planning was carried out in this sense
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
PS: The order was given due to my five-minute sketch. The relationship to the location of the practice was very important here. For this reason, we commissioned photographer Stefan Blume to take pictures in the nearby forest, which were then used as a black-and-white foil print for the design of all glass walls around the central piazza.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
PS: After Dental INN, I continued to work with the foil printing in the design of interiors and facades. The latest project with a foil printing plan is the headquarters of the RENT EVENT TEC in Mannheim. The façade area to be designed here was 120 square meters. This project was awarded the International Facade Design Award a few months ago.
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
PS: Of course, the needs of the customer play the most important role. Only if the customer wishes a special design, you also have the opportunity to develop something special. Just as the customer is good, so the result can be good.
FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
PS: This project is a fusion of the spatial representation of spaces, photography and lighting.
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
PS: practices, clinics, relaxion oases
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
PS: The patient should not only be made aware of the upcoming treatment. The determination of the practice should take a back seat.
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
PS: The patient should not only be made aware of the upcoming treatment. The style of the interior design should evoke emotions that push the main reason for the visit into the background.
FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
PS: The central, organically shaped island in the center of the piazza represents the abstraction of a tooth The surrounding walls with the monochrome foil print of the forest then form the free transition when entering the treatment rooms
FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
PS: The drawing sketches played the most important role here all that followed was just the processing
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
PS: The technology here primarily refers to the dental equipment but not forgetting the design of the floor in the form of concrete look, the design of the glass walls, the foil printing and, of course, the type of lighting
FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
PS: For a long time I have dealt with the psychology of patients...
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
PS: There is always the question during the realization: is a little too much or too little Of course, the interior was very unusual for many patients on their first visit. But the final reactions have only confirmed the feelings of well-being
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
PS: Above all, the planning of well thought-out lighting is always in the foreground. Recessed ceiling light was used for this project, which premiered here. But there is a lot of support from the manufacturer "Molto Luce" Austria as well as our lighting planner "Licht-Team Speyer".
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
PS: Since the Dental INN I try again and again to bring the natural structures into the interiors. Sometimes with more, sometimes with less success.
