Interview with Don Lin at Monday 14th of April 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? DL: The importance of this project is not about designing a concept but rather an experience of your personal lifestyle. The end result was to diversify the industrial visionary into a fresh modern approach. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? DL: Space efficiency is something I wanted to explore. By doing so, structure shaping has being examined to further magnify. With structure overlapping is not sufficient; the haptic pleasures of the materials was also measured, to converge a sense of presence FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? DL: Usually the process of developing a concept can be metaphor of complication, sometime it really depend on how you encapsulate it. For me, it takes days or it may take months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? DL: Every lifestyle is different and for me, every works that I designed will be a different philosophy approach FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? DL: From raw, it can only go even more raw. However my context of rawness is a sensation view towards a comprehensive state of art. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? DL: I would consider to able to convert the ugliness of the element into the beauty of aesthetic touch.
