Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Patricia Sheung Ying Wong (PW) for A' Design Awards and Competition. You can access the full profile of Patricia Sheung Ying Wong by clicking here. Access more information about the award winning design Wavy here.

Interview with Patricia Sheung Ying Wong at Saturday 16th of March 2013

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
PW: As my first attempt to explore slip-casting, I decided to start with daily objects. The form of the design was inspired by my trip to Yellowstone National Park. I am also fond by the idea of discovering tiny surprise from every day's repetitive life, so I tried to add a little of that surprising elements into this design.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
PW: During the process, I tried to achieve beautiful while practical design by observing people's ways of handling daily objects.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
PW: I made mistakes and discovered new things during the process. I hoped to include those discoveries if I am improving the piece.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
PW: 3 months

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
PW: I was contacted by few buyers before showing their interest in producing this specific design, but currently I don't have any plan of reproducing them myself. If anyone is interested in this design, feel free to contact me.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
PW: Yep, I worked with two ceramic artists on this design. Would like to take this chance to thank them! Kate and Michael! They taught me so much.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
