Interview with May Khoury at Monday 1st of April 2013 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? MK: The main priciple in my design is the fusion of two cultures in one piece. The unity of the old jordanian brass piece & the Uzbek textile ,formed a modern structure, that can be utilized within any interior. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? MK: I wanted to expose our new generation to designs that incorporate old crafts which are fading away. It is somehow an educational functional piece, defining two different cultures. MK: This design was not comissioned, I just decided as usual to pursue an inspiration FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? MK: I plan to sell the production rights. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? MK: It is not unusual for me to design such a piece as this is the exact original concept of design that I always follow.
