Interview with Ting G at Sunday 3rd of March 2013 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? TG: Stone Ring got inspiration from sharks. Sharpness is the feeling you’ll get thinking about shark, wearing it shows only the top of the ring like the fearful and ready to attack sharks back floating on the water. In this design the fierce, eternal spirit of shark is in combination, then in contrast, with Ironstone and Pattern stone, both forgotten stones in jewellery. Mostly used to compose a string of beads, these materials were “co-star” but they’ve never been used as the “star” like in this ring, It’s the new way of stones being, not just parts in the jewellery but the basic element in the jewel. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? TG: The main focus in designing this ring has been the achievement of sharpness, and which material for sculpt can make the best contrast with the fierce and eternal spirit. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? TG: I planned to make it as a collection of rings, using more different natural stones. Then design a setting as a shark body for them in only one form in Silicon and in several colors. I would like to hold a " Shark - sea world " exhibition to show that even that ring can show its strong eternal and with invincible spirit. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? TG: I’m planning to sell or lease the production but i would like to find support to make a collection about this design
